Nurse Resume Example

A nurse resume is a bit different in content than a standard resume in what your employer will emphasize. After all these are peoples lives on the line and liability issues are no higher than in health care.

Below is a nurse resume example. We will point out some things you should consider while filling out each section.

Objective: This doesn't have to be long but it should be a powerful statement of the exact nursing position you seek and project that you are experienced and confident in skills. You may a special skill here to grab the reviewers attention.

Profile: List what you are good at especially skills and demeanor that help minimize hospital liability and increase patient satisfaction.

Experience: List everything you have done even if it was for one day. Make it sound as if you were a take charge nurse and an asset to the team. This is the most scrutinized part of the resume and will make or break you in whether you get an interview. Make it positive.

Education: List your entire nurse related education and any clinical training.

Certifications: You will notice in the nurse resume example that this includes your state licences first and then any other certifications.

If you have any other skills or special training add a skills heading at the end of the resume and list your skills. Add your NCLEX here if you did well on that exam.

Every hospital will run a criminal background check. Be prepared to explain any complaints. Major hospitals will disqualify you as a candidate if there are before an interview unless you are uniquely qualified for the position where competition is scarce.
